The Special Danger to Women If Trump Is Elected
In states where abortion has been banned, women who need emergency care for miscarriages and pregnancy complications have been forced to sit in waiting rooms and parking lots until they’re close enough to death to receive legal treatment. It’s hard to believe it could get worse than that. But it will.
Under Project 2025, there will be a nation-wide abortion ban. The FDA will revoke approval of abortion pills (which have been proven as safe as Advil). Sending pills through the mail will be a felony. Women across the US will be forced to carry non-viable fetuses to term (as they already are in some states). Young girls will have no choice but to give birth to rapists’ babies. In many states, those rapists will have parental rights.
Doctors, terrified of legal penalties, will hesitate to treat pregnancy complications. Your risk of dying during childbirth will skyrocket. Infant mortality will surge, as it already has in Texas. There will be far fewer women’s health care professionals in general. Doctors and nurses won’t want to find themselves in a position where they’re forced to deny care to the sick or dying. No one wants to tell a newly pregnant woman that her breast cancer can’t be treated until she gives birth.
Plan B pills will be removed from stores. There will be no emergency contraception. Birth control options will be severely limited. Insurance will not cover it. Some pharmacies will not carry contraceptives at all. The pharmacist will rely on his/her religious beliefs to determine whether you should be able to buy birth control.
That’s if you can get a prescription, of course. Planned parenthood will be defunded and the clinic you’ve relied on for Pap smears and breast exams will close.
Abstinence will be the preferred form of contraception. Or you can turn to the rhythm method and prayer. You will have little control over the size of your family, making it impossible to plan long term. Only rich and/or abstinent heterosexual women will be able to pursue an education or career. You will be financially dependent on the man in your life.
If you’re gay, employers won’t have to hire you if it offends their religious beliefs. Forget about marriage. It was nice while it lasted.
Childcare will be unaffordable and subsidies nonexistent. All but the wealthiest mothers will need to stay home with the kids. Feeding and clothing families on a single income will be extremely hard. Your husband will likely find himself tied to his job. Without free lunch at school, many of America’s children will go hungry. With half of its workforce under virtual house arrest, America’s economy will stall.
Those who want kids but can’t have them will discover IVF is off the table. You may be encouraged to adopt some of the children who are overwhelming the foster care system. Unless, of course, you’re single or gay. In those cases, you will be deemed unfit for parenthood.
If you find yourself in a physically or psychologically abusive marriage, you may well be stuck. No fault divorce will not be an option. If you want out, you’ll first have to jump through a bunch of new hoops. Some won’t make it. More women will die—from domestic violence and suicide.
If you are a woman who thinks this election won’t affect you personally, think again. Dark days are coming if every woman in America doesn’t vote for her rights. Together, we have the power to get this country on the right track.
Trump has described Project 2025 as “the groundwork and detail[ed] plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America.”

Vice-Presidential candidate JD Vance has deep ties to the Heritage Foundation — especially to Kevin Roberts, president of the right-wing think tank and architect of Project 2025.
Vance praised Roberts for turning the organization “into the de facto institutional home of Trumpism."Vance is author of the foreword to Roberts’s upcoming book, "Dawn’s Early Light."
Vance calls for followers to “circle the wagons and load the muskets,” and describes Roberts’s ideas as an “essential weapon” in the “fights that lay ahead.”
