Book Tour?
So I'm considering the possibility of doing a tour to help spread the word about my new book, the revised and expanded PRONOIA. (More info here.) I've developed a whole show featuring the material in the book, and would love to take it on the road.On the one hand, I know it would be smashing fun. I did a tour for my last two books in 2000 and 2005, and experienced a mind-expanding orgy of revelations, teachings, and the best kind of messy joy. Both times I crisscrossed the U.S. and Canada, racking up a total of 50,000 frequent flier miles. On the other hand, a 2009-2010 book tour for the new PRONOIA might cost me more money than I could ever make up by selling books. That's what happened the last two times. I don't need to get rich from the new book, but I'd prefer not to get poorer. (And yes, I do have to pay travel expenses for book promotion out of my own pocket.) The upshot of it all is this: The more of you buy my book, the more likely it is I can do a tour. That's my first message to you today. My second consists of a question: If you live in a city that would be a good candidate for me to visit, what would be the best bookstore for me to come to? Keep in mind that I'm more likely to be able to draw a good crowd in a city where my column "Free Will Astrology" appears in a local newspaper. |
